Create a reusable audience
Combine customer attributes and behavior into a segment you can use across lifecycle actions.
See it in Leado
What you’ll achieve
- A named, reusable audience whose inclusion, exclusion, consent, and current membership are understandable before use.
Follow the workflow
-
1
Open Data → Audiences
Review existing audiences before creating another segment with overlapping logic.
-
2
Name the business purpose
Use a name that states who is included and why, such as “Recent first-time buyers” rather than “Segment 4.”
-
3
Add inclusion rules
Choose customer, order, product, consent, or event conditions supported by the connected data source.
-
4
Add exclusions
Exclude contacts who should not receive the action, such as unsubscribed customers or recent purchasers when inappropriate.
-
5
Preview the audience
Check the estimated count and sample contacts. Unexpectedly small or large results usually indicate a rule or connector mismatch.
-
6
Save and reuse
Save the audience, then select it in email, SMS, web push, workflow, or analysis tools where available.
Verify your work
- Sample members satisfy every inclusion rule
- Unsubscribed, suppressed, or otherwise ineligible contacts are excluded for the intended channel
- The saved audience can be selected in the intended message, workflow, or analysis editor
If something doesn’t look right
The count is zero
Test rules individually and confirm the selected connector contains the required fields or events.
The count is unexpectedly high
Inspect AND/OR grouping, date windows, missing exclusions, and workspace selection.
A known contact is absent
Open the contact to verify identity linkage, source data, consent, and recent events.
Limitations and safeguards
Audience membership can change as contacts, consent, events, products, and orders synchronize; recheck the live estimate before sending.
