Expected outcome

What you’ll achieve

  • A defensible Meta Ads comparison whose company set, date window, metric definitions, and creative evidence remain aligned.
Step by step

Follow the workflow

  1. 1

    Choose a valid date range

Open Data → Competitor Tracking → Meta Ads. Set the same reporting window for every company you plan to compare.

  2. 2

    Narrow the company set

Use company and category filters to remove unrelated brands. Active filter chips show exactly what is included.

  3. 3

    Read reach and activity together

Reach estimates indicate distribution pressure, while new starts and visible ads show creative and campaign activity. One metric should not substitute for the other.

  4. 4

    Distinguish the core measures

Treat estimated reach as visible distribution, ad count as the creatives or ad records included by the current filters, and first/last shown as source-record dates. A visible-period value can describe only the selected reporting window.

  5. 5

    Inspect targeting and formats

Use available age, gender, location, format, theme, and funnel classifications to identify repeated patterns. Treat classified or inferred fields as signals, not the advertiser’s private targeting configuration.

  6. 6

    Open the creatives

Review individual ad copy and media before writing an insight. Repeated creative routes are usually more actionable than an isolated advertisement.

  7. 7

    Preserve the evidence

Use the same selected period when sharing figures or creating content, so a chart and its supporting examples describe the same dataset.

Quality check

Verify your work

  • The active filter chips match the companies, categories, and period named in the finding
  • A chart value can be reconciled with the included creative list or detail records
  • Multiple representative creatives support any claimed message, format, or targeting pattern
Troubleshooting

If something doesn’t look right

A figure changed

Confirm whether the source fetch or certification state changed and whether the same period and filters are still applied.

The chart and creative list disagree

Remove hidden category or company filters and verify the date semantics of the metric.

Media or details are missing

Reopen the creative after synchronization and treat unavailable source assets as incomplete evidence.

Note

Meta figures describe visible advertising activity and available estimates. They are not the advertiser’s private Ads Manager results.
